I reviewed the driver onboards for all drivers from start of lap 7 ( or where ever they were just before Gasly and Hulkenberg contact) and here are my notes:
Piastri – Asked about strategy and was told to stand by. A few corners later he was instructed to continue. Afterward he was informed that everyone had pitted. No significant reaction.
Norris – Asked about strategy and was told a few corners later to continue. Afterward he was told that everyone had pitted. No significant reaction.
Verstappen – Did not ask about strategy. Received a very late call to box, almost crossing the Safety Car line. Pitted without comment. Afterward he was told McLaren had not pitted. No significant reaction.
Sainz – Informed at the start of lap 7 that the SC/VSC window was open. Was called to pit without asking. Only had to wait for Verstappen to clear the fast lane. Stop was decent. Afterward he was told that McLaren hadn’t pitted, Verstappen had, and he was P5. No significant reaction.
Antonelli – Told to box after the final turn. Waited too long in the box because the fast lane wasn’t clear. Visibly agitated after seeing Sainz jump him. Questioned the decision to pit on that lap; Bono explained most of the grid had pitted.
Russell – As soon as the SC flag appeared, he said, “I know what we’re doing… I guess.” He was already angled toward the pit lane before the call even arrived. Didn’t wait as long behind Antonelli and his box. Afterward, told McLaren didn’t pit. No significant reaction.
Alonso – Instructed several turns before the pit entry to box. Replied, “Cool.” Was not told what the rest of the grid did.
Leclerc – Saw the contact live and avoided it, receiving positive affirmation from the team. Was not explicitly told about the SC, unlike most others. Instructed before the final turn to pit. Not informed about the rest of the grid’s choices.
Lawson – Saw the contact from farther back and Gasly rejoining. Asked for strategy; received some setting changes instead. Asked again and was instructed before the final turn to pit. Told they would double-stack. Thanked the team for their effort. Not informed about the rest of the grid.
Tsunoda – After the SC flag, he asked which lap it was (told lap 7). Gave tire status. Received a fairly late call to box. Waited a couple of seconds due to traffic. Afterward, told McLaren didn’t pit. No significant reaction.
Albon – Told at the start of lap 7 that the SC/VSC window was open. Asked to pit without prompting. Told it would be a double-stack. Not informed about the rest of the grid.
Hamilton – Told to box for mediums as soon as the SC flag appeared. Had to wait for Leclerc to clear the box but not after service. Agitated about losing places due to the hold-up:
“How many places did I lose?”
“You are P15.”
“I know I’m P15; how many places did I just lose?”
“Two places.”
Bortoleto – Told immediately when the SC flag came on that the SC window was open. Reconfirmed a few corners later and was affirmed. Urgently instructed to box after the final turn. Told “everyone else pitted,” followed by a correction: “Except Piastri, Norris, Ocon.” No significant reaction.
Colapinto – Told the SC window was open while passing a limping Gasly. Called to box soon after the SC flag. Not informed about what the rest of the grid did.
Ocon – Said it would be an SC when he saw Hülkenberg off; the SC flag came a few turns later. Told to stay out. Informed that everyone except him and McLaren pitted. Then told to pit to serve his penalty. No reaction. In the box, the front-left gunner mistakenly engaged the gun early and was reprimanded. Ocon waited 5s, was serviced, and left—only to be told to pit again, as the penalty wasn’t served correctly. Engineer apologized. Ocon asked why he had the penalty; engineer explained he had moved before the lights. Ocon suggested it might have been a clutch issue. They agreed to debrief later.
Gasly – Reported damage immediately after the contact. Was very slow, being passed by everyone. Told to pit so the team could assess how to manage the damage.
Stroll – Lost a position to Bortoleto while passing a limping Gasly. Initially told they would likely pit; then told to box before the final turn.
Hadjar – Told to box several turns before the entry. Afterward informed that McLaren didn’t pit. No significant reaction.
Bearman – Asked about strategy and was told to stand by. Instructed after the final corner to box. Afterward told everyone had pitted. Not informed about the rest of the grid’s choices.
Key observations:
I think at this point everyone is clear that McLaren fucked this but this shows that they didn’t even entertain the fact that a vast majority will be able to tell that the 3rd tyre only needed to do 7 laps at max.
Williams were the ones who were absolutely clear on pitting. They were almost hoping for this.
Hamilton and his engineer have no chemistry.
Russell was more sure than any other driver to pit.

Tsunoda vows to return to F1 grid after ‚tough‘ Red Bull axing
| 1. Freies Training | 05. Dezember | 10:30 |
|---|---|---|
| 2. Freies Training | 05. Dezember | 14:00 |
| 3. Freies Training | 06. Dezember | 11:30 |
| Qualifying | 06. Dezember | 15:00 |
| Rennen | 07. Dezember | 14:00 |
Ist somit also nichts neues.
Lando 408 (7-8-2)
Max 396 (7-5-2)
Oscar 392 (7-4-4)
Thema FP1 siehe hier @jellybelly
