The most important change about the looting in Diablo 4, however, is the system behind the drops. Smart Loot is returning, which means you have a higher chance to get loot specific to the class you are playing. Certain loot also has a higher chance to drop from specific enemy types.

  • Work/life balance and measuring human capacity and achieving sustainable goals for the teams. Not overpromising results.
  • Talks blizzard deadlines and how diablo is approaching blizzard’s normal timelines. That’s how they came up with quarterly seasons. Talks about how they tried to make seasons long enough for casuals to complete the battlepass
  • 27 free tiers battlepass 63 premium tiers. Premium track is 100% cosmetic. Power and experience boosts are in the free tiers
  • Expect hiccups with the cosmetics shop as it launches. It wasn’t in a state ready to be used in the beta or server slam.
  • Talks about setting the D4 world in the future to allow for standalone lore. No homework or playing other games required.
  • Tried to make a big story to draw in a new audience.
  • Prologue and intro for newcomers. Prologue was a later introduction to funnel people through the mechanics and prevent analysis paralysis
  • Talks about marketing to the new generation and reaching an audience they haven’t yet. Diablo fans are getting old, the series is 20+ years old. Blizzard wants fresh meat and so they made things to attract younger audiences.
  • Talk about why they chose an open world. They didn’t want Diablo to be constrained to “beautiful hallways”
  • Dungeons and story are 100% private to your party and randoms cannot join and interrupt
  • No competition between online players, only help (except pvp). They want to build a community.
  • Wanted to keep player saturation low, but constant.
  • Each region is a server and as you move through regions you switch servers
  • Couch coop is possible - they didn’t mention console exclusivity but they have apparently said in the past that it’s not possible on PC due to battlenet
  • Been doing lots of stress testing through betas and server slam after using bots. Been prepping for opening the flood gates on launch day and are feeling pretty good about day 1.
  • They have different thresholds to let in different numbers of people. As they escalate the opening of the flood gates, they have to go through approval process through like 4 people
  • End game has been praised by critics - how do you feel about it considering players always want more? “First mainline Diablo game that is launching with end game built into the box” Lol well he’s not entirely wrong there
  • Lots of priorities on making sure endgame is functioning correctly. Hell tide difficulty. Tree of whispers. PvP. Nightmare dungeons.
  • “Many people do not see Diablo as a story game and see it as a systems game where endgame is the true game. wanted to ensure that these people were happy at launch”
  • PvP is a murder fest. You don’t have to play PvP if you don’t like it. There is PvE in the PvP zones, but you can always get ganked. You can get cosmetic achievements through the PvP zones but again 100% optional
  • Rod likes the dark tone of 1, progression of 2, combat of 3. “We want people who love D2 to love D4 and people who love D3 to love D4”
  • Runewords is something they think is interesting but it’s so deep they haven’t figured out how to put it in the game yet
  • Rod said he’s a necro main
  • Class he would like to see in the future? Refused to answer lol. Likes the 5 classes, and would love to create a class Diablo hasn’t seen before
  • What are cows? „Sorry, had to stay grounded and no silly stuff in D4“ he was referring to things staying with the Diablo aesthetic, lore, and world. Fun or not, if it doesn’t fit it isn’t being implemented.
  • He likes the butcher implementation, especially the added stress of the butcher in HC
  • Have no idea how long it’ll take for 1,000 people to reach hardcore level 100. Thinks people are underestimating the difficulty. People who participated in the review build cannot participate in the race

Wirds eig nen RJ Clan geben? :D
