Huge news from China:
Blizzard ends the distributor deal with NetEase.
Blizzard games won’t be available in China from January 23rd on.
After 14 years of partnership, both parties couldn’t agree to a new deal.
This means that Chinese players would have no way to purchase or play current Blizzard games outside of Diablo Immortal, which has a seperate deal.
Blizzard says it’s „looking for alternatives to bring our games back to players in the future“. If NetEase suspends the service without replacement, it could be very hard or impossible to connect to W3Champions.
A different distributor would also mean that Blizzard would have to apply for new licenses for their games, which could take up to one year.
